Speaker 1:

You're listening to the Realized Empath Podcast, where we get real about loving and stumbling through our sensitive lives With your host and holistic counselor, Kristen Schwartz, who helps redefine what's possible for an empath who embraces a path of self-healing.

Speaker 2:

Hello beautiful souls and welcome back to the Realized Empath Podcast. I'm Kristen Schwartz, your guide and friend on this journey of self-discovery and emotional wellness. So today's episode is particularly fun and I believe it will deeply resonate with you.

Speaker 2:

This week over on Instagram, I did a post titled the Nine Things Every Empath Needs to Hear Today, and I thought it would be fun to really dive deep into each one of those nine topics. Before we start, I want to let you all know that I am immensely grateful for your support and I want you to consider sharing and rating and reviewing this podcast if you find value in our time together. Your support helps me reach more empaths and highly sensitive people like you, spreading understanding and compassion. So thank you again for being here and let's jump into the nine things you need to hear today. Number one choose people who choose you. Let's begin with relationships.

Speaker 2:

So, as empaths, we often find ourselves in one-sided relationships where we often give more than we receive. Now I want to preface by saying that doesn't mean that we're a victim in it and that we give and the people that don't give back are bad right. Sometimes we have to take a really good look and see maybe we're not comfortable with receiving right, so maybe there's something to us that is blocking our ability to receive or welcome that energy back. But let's say we're in a one-sided relationship. You know, it's like auditioning for a role that we're never going to be given. The key here is to recognize when we do over extend ourselves for those who don't reciprocate. A common pitfall is mistaking our empathy for obligation, leading us to poor energy and to draining relationships. So choose those who make you feel seen and appreciated and bring as much to the table as you do right. Choosing people who choose you is about mutual respect and appreciation. It's about surrounding yourself with those who uplift you, celebrating your wins as if they were their own and offering a shoulder when things get tough right. So empaths often worry about being too much or not enough for others, but the right people who truly deserve a place in your life will accept and cherish you for who you are, without you feeling the need to diminish or amplify aspects of your personality. So please remember relationships should bring you joy and growth, not constant self-doubt or feelings of inadequacy.

Speaker 2:

Okay, number two consistency is the key to everything you desire, so please keep going. So moving to consistency is a vital ingredient in achieving what we all desire. So it's easy to start with enthusiasm, but the real challenge is in maintaining momentum. So consistency is like watering a plant, so it needs regular attention and it's common to face setbacks or lose momentum, but remember, please remember, that every small, consistent action is a step closer to your goals. So, whether that's regular self-reflection or moving your body, or daily meditation or pursuing a passion project, consistency will be your most reliable companion. So consistency in your actions builds resilience, and all impasse need resilience and strength right. So, especially in challenging times, it's about showing up for yourself day in and day out, even when the progress seems invisible.

Speaker 2:

Right For impasse, this can mean consistently setting boundaries, regularly practicing self-care or steadily working towards personal goals. The pitfall here is the expectation of immediate results. So real change is gradual and often subtle. So trust the process, stay committed to your path. Consistency isn't about grand gestures. It's like the quiet, persistent effort truly transforms our lives, and I want to note here that self-awareness plays into this right.

Speaker 2:

So I'll give you a little personal story. I've talked about this a lot on social media, but I'm in this season, right now of my life where I desire support and inspiration, and I'll give you a specific example. Let's talk about moving my body. So I know that for me to consistently show up and move my body, what I need right now, in the season that I'm in, is I need someone on the other side of my workout routine who is cheering me on and supporting me and inspiring me to show up. Okay, so maybe 10 years ago I didn't need that. I'm not gonna say I pride myself on being hyper-independent. I am hyper-independent but that's because of trauma that I've been through in my life. It's a trauma response. So me embracing the fact that I crave that support is actually a win. It's actually a sign of healing. So knowing what I need allows me and honoring that allows me to be more consistent with that part of my self-care. All right.

Speaker 2:

Number three follow your joy and stay curious. So let's talk about joy and curiosity for a second. Our society often diminishes joy as frivolous, but for empaths, it's a beacon that can guide us to our true selves. It's about finding what genuinely excites you and exploring it further. A pitfall here is ignoring our inner voice in favor of practicality or societal norms. Follow what makes your heart sing, whether it's art or nature, or learning or helping others. This pursuit is where you'll find your most authentic self. So joy is your inner compass, guiding you towards what truly matters. It could be as simple as reading a book that resonates with you, or as significant as changing your career path to align with your passions. So, for empaths, following joy means tuning into your intuition and honoring what feels right. The common pitfall is confusing joy with fleeting pleasure. So true joy is deeply fulfilling and lasting. It nurtures your soul and aligns with your core values. So dare to pursue what brings you genuine happiness. It's a journey that leads, I promise you, to profound self-discovery.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so number four of the nine things that every empath needs to know today, please remember these free health tools. So your wellness toolkit contains some powerful free tools the sun, water, exercise, meditation, laughter, sleep, nature and connection. And they're not just elements, they're the foundation of a healthy life. Often we need to pay more attention to these simple tools in search of complex solutions. So you want to incorporate these into your daily routine and watch as they transform your physical and emotional health. Simple practices like daily walks in nature, staying hydrated and regular sleep can profoundly affect your well-being. So these natural tools offer a holistic approach to wellness. They work synergistically to improve our overall well-being. So the sun boosts vitamin D and mood. Water hydrates and cleanses the body. Exercise strengthens and energizes right and moves our energy. Meditation calms and centers. Laughter heals and connects, sleep restores and rejuvenates. Nature soothes and inspires. And connection fosters belonging and understanding. So making these a regular part of your life is challenging, but the effort is worth it. So integrating these elements can bring balance and harmony to impacts and anyone seeking a healthier, more fulfilled life. All right.

Speaker 2:

Number five Sensitivity isn't something we choose. It's how we're made. So number five is about embracing our inherent sensitivity. It's not a choice. It's an integral part of who we are. So sensitivity can feel like an disadvantage in a world that often rewards toughness, but it's a profound strength and it allows us to experience deep empathy and connection. So the challenge here is not to see our sensitivity as a burden, but as a gift. The shift in perspective can change how you interpret the world and how you perceive yourself. Your sensitivity is a window to a deeper understanding of the world, and it allows you to connect with others Profoundly and experience art and nature and life with intensity and passion. So this sensitivity can be both a source of joy and a challenge for impasse, and I get that. But it's crucial to create an environment that nurtures that trait. So this might mean setting boundaries to protect your energy, choosing settings that are harmonious with your sensitivity and Surrounding yourself with people who support and understand your empathic nature. So you want to embrace your sensitivity. It's a beautiful part of who you are.

Speaker 2:

Alright, number six, you don't have to match people's energy to fit in. So let's discuss energy as in pass. We're often Chameleons and we can find ourselves Adapting our energy to try to fit in and not rock the boat, but what this does is it leads to losing sight of who you are. It's okay if your energy is calmer, more reflective or differently paced than others. Embracing your unique energy allows you to bring your true self to every situation, adding diversity and depth to your interactions. Remember this if you're trying to fit in, you are not being authentic, and I know this goes deeper to okay. Well, maybe I don't feel safe in this environment, and that's something to take a look at right and dive a little bit deeper into. Ask yourself how often do I match people's energy and why am I doing it? You want to be the influencer in the room and not the Influenced when we're talking about energy. So maintaining your unique energy in a world that constantly tries to mold you is an act of courage and authenticity.

Speaker 2:

For empath, this means Not being swept away by the energies around you. It's about knowing your emotional landscape and staying true to it. This doesn't mean you're indifferent to others feelings. It's about not losing your sense of self. The pitfall here is the fear of standing out or being different. Right, but remember, your unique energy is a gift. It brings diversity, perspective and richness to your interactions in the world. Okay, number seven Feelings are there to be felt and you are Responsible for your feelings.

Speaker 2:

So feelings the complex spectrum of human emotion, are there to be felt. Right, we often fall into a trap of labeling emotions as good or bad, but every emotion has a purpose and a message. So allowing ourselves to fully experience our emotions without judgment is a form of self-respect and understanding. It's about Acknowledging that our feelings are valid and important. Here's a couple things to note. All feelings are valid, but not all feelings are truth when it comes to the stories that we tell ourselves about.

Speaker 2:

The feelings, okay, and All feelings are meant to be felt, but feelings aren't meant to be weapons that are then thrown or daggers that are thrown at other people. We can use anger, for example. Anger is there to be felt and the energy in anger can actually inspire us to transmute and create things through that energy of anger, but anger is not meant to be used as a weapon towards or to another person. So allowing ourselves to fully experience our emotions can be liberating right. It's a process of acknowledging and understanding and then letting go, and this process is crucial for impassant, highly sensitive people, because we often feel emotions more intensely. The challenge here is to stay calm by these feelings. Techniques like mindfulness and journaling that we talked about a lot, and talking to a trusted friend or a therapist can help in processing these emotions healthily right. This is where we want to process and not throw our emotions onto others. So recognize that feelings, no matter how intense, are transient. They come and they go. Each one is teaching us something valuable about ourselves and our journey.

Speaker 2:

Number eight, and I think, a very important one, it's not your job to fix other people's feelings or moods. So impaths naturally gravitate towards healing and helping, and I get that. However, it's crucial to understand that we can't and shouldn't fix everyone's emotional challenges. This is a common pitfall. Right, taking on the emotional burdens of others is a common pitfall for highly sensitive people and for impasse. So remember, while you can offer support, everyone must navigate their emotional journey. So setting this boundary is healthy for you and respecting others' abilities to heal and grow. So, as impasse, we have a natural inclination to healing comfort, but it's important to recognize the boundary between support and over-involvement. Taking responsibility to fix others can lead to emotional exhaustion and burnout, and it's crossing other people's boundaries. So it's about offering empathy and support without taking on the emotional weight yourself. So this distinction is crucial for maintaining your emotional health. So you want to encourage others to find their paths to healing while focusing on your journey. And by doing so, what you're doing is you're protecting yourself and empowering others at the same time to take charge of their emotional well-being. And number nine no one else does what you do. End of story.

Speaker 2:

Let's talk about your unique contribution to this world. So, in a world of over 7 billion people, it's easy to feel like just another face in the crowd. But here's the truth no one else brings what you bring. Your combination of talents, experiences and perspectives is unparalleled. So celebrate your uniqueness. It's your gift to this world. Never underestimate the impact of your unique presence. Your combination of empathy, sensitivity, creativity and perspective is rare and needed. I know it's easy to fall into the comparison trap, especially in a world dominated by social media. But remember your journey and contributions are incomparable. They are as unique as your fingerprint. So celebrate your individuality and know that what you offer to the world is valuable and irreplaceable. In embracing your uniqueness, you inspire others to do the same, so what that does is it creates a ripple effect of authenticity and self-acceptance.
